NO HDD'S on Post!

Thread Starter
1. New A8N SLi MB
2. Installed and connected HDD's

Now the Bios cant see the 2 (or 1 don't matter) SATA hdd's.
POST show nothing but if i go in to the raid controller the HDD's show up.

Changed setting in the BIOS but still no HDD on POST.
Windows also say that there is no disk installed.

Am I doing something wrong?

I changed cables and psu and what else!!!!

There are two sets of SATA connectors - Sillicon & nVidia.. the Silicon is a RAID controller by default so the drives would need to be configured as such.

The nVidia contoller is the better one to use be this for Std or RAID ... under RAID drivers need to be installed.

Work through the A8n FAQ for more assistance (see my sig for link) .. post Qs here for further help.

EDIT: Assuming it is an Asus A8N SLi

Yes it is a A8N Sli premium MB

I tried the nvidia raid drivers but windows still said no hdd connected.

Why dont the hdd show up in the POST? My old Gigabyte board showed all the drives connected.

Will check out yr link. Thanks

I had the same problem. I had to switch the connection from the raid plugs to the regular ones. Then I had to go into the BIOS and turn off all the raid functions. This is the ONLY way I got windows to recognize the drives. I tried a lot of things and this is the only way I got it to work. A friend of mine is comming over next week to see if we can get my raptors to work in Raid 0. I will post again if I get it to work.
