Indeed. These things are beasts. I got it up to 3.0ghz on stock cooling while sitting next to a heater I recently got my big typhoon in, I say go with the fx57. Im going for 3.2 next, seems like it will be able to do it.

Get a AMD 64 4000+ and OC it to 57 speeds, it really is easy to achieve with about 1/3 of the cost.

Yeah, why not just get a 57, and oc it to +57 speeds

an fx-57 runs 2.8ghz stock, easy to 3.0, need cooling to go higher

If you have about $1000 to spend on a CPU, then I'd say go for a FX-57 or a dual core 4800 X2. Both will be blazingly fast in games and should OC quite nicely.
