BOINC ATI support thread... Unleashing the DRAGONs! Get your GPU's full worth here! - Page 105

post #1041 of 1404
Hi all, i've just registered smile.gif

Also have a problem, i hope someone can help me..
I have a 6970 and a 4850, in the same computer, used for Milkyway@home. They're running nicely, but i also use this machine for gaming.
I want the 4850 to run BOINC all the time, and only that. That other card should remain free, for running games, etc. (monitor is plugged on that)
How can i make BOINC client use 1 vga only?

You may be able to do it by running an app_info.xml file and cc_config.xml

You could run Dark Ryders 1 process per GPU app_info.xml and add a project exclusion for the GPU that you didn't want to run moo wrapper?

Here is the info on how to run one work unit per GPU
http://www.overclock.net/t/1207851/moowrapper-running-1-workunit-per-gpu-how-to

Here is the info on excluding GPU's from a project
http://moowrap.net/forum_thread.php?id=205#2253

I haven't tried it yet, but in theory it should work biggrin.gif

Edit:
On second thought, I would just try just using the cc_config.xml and excluding the GPU that you don't want to run from the project.

If the 6970 is GPU 0 then try something like
Code:
<exclude_gpu>
<url>http://moowrap.net/</url>
<device_num>0</device_num>
</exclude_gpu>

in the cc_config.xml

thank you, appreciated, however, im running boinc for a couple of years now, but still dont know what's this moo thing smile.gif
so tried out a different method.

swapped cards, atm the 6970 is running milkyway 100% of time, and the monitor is connected to the 4850. so i can still play, AND do boinc at the same time.. its better for my scores too.

is there a MW team i could join?

http://moowrap.net/

There's the official site for it. For whatever reason, it doesn't show up in the BOINC project list when you tell it to add a project, so enter it manually.

BOINC is really just management software that allows volunteers to run many different projects. Moo Wrapper and Milky Way are projects that run in BOINC. You are signed up for the right place if you are running Milky Way. A lot of the members here run it. If you need more specific information about the Milky Way project or want to contact the people running the project, you created an account with them when you signed up to run Milky Way. Here is a link to the project home

Edit: Not sure if you meant MooWrap or MilkyWay?

oh thanks, so its basically a different client for running milkyway packages!

is it better to use moo then BOINC, or about the same? (stability, completition times, etc)

Moo runs under BOINC.
post #1048 of 1404
All of the confusion is because MOO doesn't show up in the list when you go to add a project. If you want to run Moo Wrapper, in the BOINC manager software goto Tools->Add Project and where you have the list of projects, type in the URL for Moo Wrapper. http://moowrap.net/ to add moo wrapper and get it to run under BOINC. After adding Moo Wrapper make sure you go to http://moowrap.net/ and add yourself to the overclock.net team. biggrin.gif

told you, i dont know what moo wrapper is smile.gif i give up biggrin.gif

however, i dont think i need it, if milkyway is running nicely

is there an OCN team?

OCN has a team for just about every project. Make sure you join the overclock.net team for Milky Way. goto http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/ login with the credentials you used to create the account and goto the "Your Account" page. From there you will see a link to either search for or join a team. Search for overclock.net team and click on the team name in the search results, from there you should see an option to "join this team."
