Xbox360 or PS3? - Page 7

But marketing, mindshare, and perception (even incorrect perceptions) can mean more. The N64 and GameCube had good games, but the PSX and PS2 whomped on them. Why? Because somehow the world began believing that Sony's games were "better" and Nintendo's games were "for kids". That's the only real hill Nintendo has to climb, they have to break the long-standing perception that they are a kiddie console.

And GTA is good, but its not THAT good.
Actually yes, GTA is that good. It is the kind of "killer app" that drives people to buy a specific console, just like Zelda for Nintendo and Halo for the Xbox.

Yeah.. But gameplay is really getting repetative on the consoles.. All they are is just graphically better games with tweaked storyline.. Which is why I know im getting the Revolution, it will be something completely new and fresh.

Oh really? The 360 will have 48 unified pipelines @ 500MHz, the Revolution will have 32 pipelines @ 600MHz and the PS3 will only have 24 pipelines @ 550MHz. Who's specs are amazing now?

I think it's a different technology we're looking at... I mean look at the 7800GTX, a card worth twice the retail value of the Xbox 360 only has HALF the pipelines that the xbox has, but crushes the xbox with superior performance and quality. I think the same will go for the PS3, as well as the Revolution. They may have less pipelines, but it's not always the pipelines that make the difference.
It all makes sense, just think, a handheld thats stronger than a PS3, an Xbox thats stronger than the hand held AND the PS3, and a PC being the weakest out of all of them... how stupid (and factually untrue) does that sound?

I agree with the man above you.

Nintendo has Tremendous potential..but with gamecube..they let it go away and didnt work and only made mario games which people got bored from after a while.

If nintendo can crack that, and get some M rated games on their console, still be fairly powerful, cheap, and give consumers a good impression, they could win this.

But Xbox 360 is already ahead.

You put more faith in the new controller than I do. I don't operate on faith, I'll believe it makes games "better" when I have one in my hand and say to myself "You know, this is better." Until that happens, the possibility that it will truly revolutionize game play is no greater than the possibility that it will turn out to be underutilized or misunderstood (like the DS touch screen), or that it will turn out to be an outright gimmick that is fun for an hour and then you never want to touch it again (like EyeToy, dance mats, and Donkey Konga drums).

I dont operate on faith either, I just realize what it can do, and what they are going to make it do.
