4400+ Toledo and 3dMark05 CPU Score

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Im a n00b to these forums.....great place for information!

Well i am also fairly new to Overclocking. I just put my new system together:

4400+ Toledo
Asus A8N-SLI (regular)
2 (1 Gig) sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200 DDR400
XFX 7800GT OC'ed to 487mhz core and 1.12ghz mem
Antec 550 watt PSU
WD Raptor 74 Gig HD
Standard cooling.

I currently have my 4400+ clocked to 2.503 Ghz, which isnt that much. But i have heard of people getting very high scores on the CPU test for 3DMark05. I have tried many times to get my number higher, but it wont budge. I dont want to OC the 4400 anymore that it already is, as standard cooling will not suffice. My 3DMark05 score was 5592, which i thought sho8uld be MUCH more than that. I set 3dmark05 to run on both processors as well. Also tried setting it to affinity on both CPU 0 and CPU 1 individually......score actually went down a tad.

I have upgraded to the newest motherboard drivers......what else could be wrong??? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Seems strange. I have pretty close to your set up and I got 7800 on 3dmark05 before I even started tweeking muy BIOS. After OCing my 4400+ X2 to 2540 mhz and OCing my 7800GTX's to 520 core, and 1340 mem my 3dmark05 is at 11988. I cant seem to break the 12000 mark yet but after this system burns in for a week or two I am going to try to OC it a little more.

correction. My CPU is clocked at 2552mhz.

Fill out your system specs and we might be able to help you troubleshoot better. There is not much I can say to help without a little background info. Are you running something besides windows xp? How many gizmose do you have running in the lower right hand corner of your screen? After start up hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and see if anything is eating up your capabilities. Also disconnect or disable your internet connection before running 3DMark. Its also best if you run it right after boot up after you turn off everything you dont need.

Thats the best I can do with the limited info. Hope it helps.

I have a very similar setup and am having the same problem...3DMark05 scores around 5100 Could someone look at my setup and tell me what the problem might be?? I actually get slightly higher 3dMark05 scores (5200-5300) if I run the CPU at stock speeds (although the CPU score significantly drops). My memory timings aren't the best 3-3-3-8, but it is 2GB at 253MHz.

I'd recommend running Aquamark 3 (to see if it's just 3d05 acting up) and SuperPi 1M (to see what we should be looking for performance-wise).

Other than that, I'd say reinstall your drivers. (after a driverclean)

What resolution is the test running at? 3DMark05 is mainly directed towards GPU power. if you are running the tests at 16x12 then you're scores are pretty much what is to be expected.

to all x2 owners:

1. we should start a x2 club
2. make sure that you have flashed your bios to a revision that has dual core support.
3. read here - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256
