6600GT or 6800NU

Thread Starter
Im looking to buy a new AGP GPU for 150$ or less.

Right now i have my eye on the 6800NU, since you can unlock to 16/6.

But my main reason of considering the 6600GT is because im unsure if you need to get better cooling if i unlock a 6800NU.

P.S. i think my ****Y mobo can only run at agp 4x , will it make that big of a difference compared to 8x?

If your not gonna be upgrading your CPU anytime soon, id go with the 6600GT, but a 6800NU owns it, since it can be clocked up to 6800GT Speeds. But if you ask me, the 6800NU looks like the best buy ATM.

BTW, Your probably going to need a new PSU for a 6800, or even a 6600GT..

well since everyone says 6800nu owns i will tell about mine. i have a 6800 vanilla pny that unlocks but basically wont overclock. it maxes at 415/760 and only benched higher than my 6600gt (600/1200) once when i had the voltage way up. i also breifly tried a 6800 le that didnt unlock at all. so do realize it isnt %100 that it will own a 6600gt, although it should be at least a little better. id go 6600gt or spend a few extra bucks and go with a better upgrade but your options are limited with agp.

I would go with the 6800NU becuase it has more potential. usually they unlock and overclock very well. The NU has 256 bit v teh GTs 128.

You can run an 8x card at 4x I think. Also I've heard that there isn't a huge difference in speed between the 4x and the 8x settings.

his 350W PSU will be fine, 350Watts can even handle 6800GT's
