King Kong Hi-Res Edition! Highest system requirements ever?

Thread Starter
So I was browsing FilePlanet, and I decided to get Peter Jackson's King Kong instead of BF2:SF as I said in a previous thread. I found that Direct2Drive has the "Hi-Res Edition" of the game, and it's apparently exclusive to D2D, so I said, "what the hey? I'll check it out". It's downloading now, I'll check it out in the morning, BUT...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are these not the highest MIMIMUM system requirements ever?? Again, these are not recommended, but REQUIRED:

King Kong Download Minimum System Requirements:

Supported OS: Windows® XP (only)
Processor: Pentium® IV 3.0 GHz or AMD 3000+ or better
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card: 3D 256 MB, supporting Pixel shader 3.0 and Vertex shader 3.0
Sound Card: DirectX® 9.0C compatible, EAX 3.0
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0C
Hard Drive Space: 5.4 GB

If anyone's interested, check it out yourself here: http://www.direct2drive.com/321/product/

The Standard Edition's requirements are only:

Supported OS: Windows® 98SE/ME/2000/XP (only)
Processor: 1.0 GHz AMD Athlon™ or Intel® Pentium® III (2.5 GHz Pentium IV or AMD Athlon™ recommended)
RAM: 256 MB (512 MB recommended)
Video Card: 64 MB DirectX® 8.1 compliant (128 MB recommended) (see supported list*)
Sound Card: DirectX 8.1 compliant
DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1
Hard Drive Space: 1.5 GB minimum

Pretty big gap, right?

Right? I almost got an erection over the screen shots, but then I got a look at Kong's face, and it ruined it. Looks awesome though, for real.

F.E.A.R. is a ridiculously good looking game, but it's minimums aren't this high. Jesus, King Kong's gonna kill us all!!

Hmmm, impressive. The first shot doesn't look all that great. That second screenshot doesn't look real, it looks like a painting or something. The third shot is pretty good, nice lighting and details. Lol, the people in the fourth one look...odd.

All in all, I'm not so impressed. For the life of me, I can't figure out why it runs choppy even at 1280x1024. The graphics aren't that impressive, it still looks to me like PS2, maybe a bit better. The controls are horrid, but that may have to do with the frame rates. The demo played perfectly, with no problems, and I was really looking forward to this game. More to come...

Unless the game looks like it is real life there is no need for the minimum requirements to be that low, windows xp apps go as high as 2GB a process so why is it minimum specs if you can't go higher unless you got the 64bit windows?

Those screenshots look really unremarkable. If it looks like that and runs poorly, then it's a poorly coded game.
