Turion overclocking report - Page 2

Updated info at the top. Not able to get any higher with the current setup. Tested up to 1.6V Vcore and it did not help me, so I think this is the limitations of the Turion without extreme cooling. Next step will possible be to test with a Athlon mobile 35W 3000+ CPU and faster RAM.

New RAM today Realy made a difference, got higher FSB and over 5s better 1M Super PI score. See info on start of the thread. Almost 600MHz OC now, and that is with a stock CPU cooler. The Turion can OC after all! Next up is a better cooler and a mobile Athlon CPU.

Hey I see a whole lot of MT OCing, but what about the ML??
I'm kinda curious. Has anyone successfully OCed the ML?

The ML turions are not good overclockers. You can see how far I got with the ML-37. A had better sucsess with the Athlon moblile 3000+(35W) and even more with the ML-40. I have a very low noise CPU cooler because I want a quit multimedia computer.
My advise is don't vaste time on the ML. The best CPU for low power overclocking is the MT-40(or 42. If power/noise doesn't matter, go for Athlon 939/AM2. I am building a new rig with a uATX AM2 Asus board next. Still aiming for a quiet but overclocked PC.

MT-40 is a great overclocking chip, the ML don't overclock as good the MT series.

If you risk a higher VCore like me you can get something like this...

But I would never did this again! Don´t wanna burn down my CPU!
At time I´m happy with my 2.6 @ 1.64V!

This may be a freak incident... or a good cooler (TTBT)... but I have an ML-30 that is stable at 2.5ghz/1.35v. I'm testing 2.7/1.525 now.

Bimmer, or anyone who may know....

I have an AMD Turion 64 MK-36 @ 2.00GHz...

I would like to know how to overclock it, and since youu also have a turion 64, I figured you'd know what I need to overclock it.

Thanks

The Turion MK-36 is not a good overclocker. I started with a similar processor, but I was only able to run it stable at about 2.3GHz. I got similar overclocks with the 2.0GHz Athlon mobile, but much higher HTT.
You have to overclock it the same way as any other processor. Lower the multiplier, lower the HTT mult, relax the RAM timings, increase the voltage carefullt and crank it up. Monitor the temperature and use a big cooler. Stay below 55-60degrees C. Find the HTT limit and the multiplier that performs best. Read all the guides on this board.
Remember to turn off spread spectrum and other usless functions.
