6800GT 128 vs 256 MB

The above card is a 6800gt with 128MB DDR3. Will I notice a small difference or a big difference when compared with its 256MB version? When I say difference I'm talking about fps in games and benchmarks.
BTW 200 posts. W00t!

On games that are memory hungry like BF2, you will really notice it.
Not bad at all...

Many games can now utilise upto ~500Mb of Video Memory. Basically, what the extra memory will do is to allow you to set higher settings without having to utilise as much system memory and so get better Framerates.
If you're happy to keep graphics settings low/medium then 128Mb will be fine, but if you want Medium/High settings then 256Mb (or even 512Mb) will be required.

I heard that the Asus 128mb doesn't even use GDDR3 memory like the 256mb version does...It uses some stinky DDR1 stuff...

On which games will you be playing? May need more than a 6800, depending on games as my 7800GTX can't run new games on everything max

If you're playing Fear then the 256MB version will make a big difference to your Frame Rates. Same with Doom3 as that is one of the games than can utilise more than 256MB of Video Memory for max settings.

NFSU2 maxed out needs more than 128MB. An ATI x800 doesn't do well at all on maxed out settings, an x850xtpe does pretty good, but for max framerates and all gfx settings on max I think you'll need at least a 6800Ultra. I'm running a 7800GTX and haven't been able to beat it in anything. Doom3 ultra settings, max settings in every game I've got, runs like a champ.
