17 hours to me is stable. But its not 24 hours stable, so I'm not going to run it all the time.

I went back to 3.8GHz, and when I need the extra speed I'll just open up E-LEET, press ALT-2 and its instant 4GHz!
I don't even follow those guidelines; 15 runs on LinX is stable enough for me. I mean if doesn't crash during day-to-day use, isn't it stable?

I so wish I can find some of the boards locally. Not a single supplier in my entire country

not bad, keep going? but why the 199 BCLK and x18 multi? you can push that up to 22 if you turn on EIST and Turbo Boost.

Hey guys, I have been browsing through the thread a bit and right now I am trying to decide between X58 and P55. I am leaning toward X58 because I want the max overclock I can get, but I really have no use for the additional PCIE lanes or the triple channel memory. I also really like P55 boards better .

Anyway what kind of BCLK are most people maxing out at that aren't cooling limited? Is 4.2-4.4GHz doable with a good 860 if you are willing to put 1.4-1.5v through it? Also what is Intel's max VTT voltage? I've heard it was 1.21v which seems low compared to X58's 1.35V max. Thanks!

The "Maximum" voltage that the CPU can handle for a Core i7 860 is 1.45v, I used to have mine at 1.41v for 4.0GHz.

4.2GHz is definitely doable with the right cooling on the 860, and will definitely take you over 1.4v. Based on my experience of getting to 4GHz on my 860, you really want to ensure that you choose memory rated at 1800MHz or higher with low latencies to ensure that you can OC your memory as you increase your BCLK and still keep tight timings.

If you don't need the 2x16 PCI-E lanes, you'll be totally happy with the 1156 chipset and an i7 860. One note here though - if you are the type of person who will be looking to upgrade your CPU in the next 1-2 years, there currently is no path to the 6-Core Gulftown on the 1156 chipset. If you're likely to replace your mobo AND processor along the same timeline, then you don't need to worry about it.

Just my 2 cents....
