X800Xt vs 6800GS

Thread Starter
I have been reading reviews about the 6800gs and almost all reviews show that it is very close in performance when compared with the 6800gt. On newegg one 6800gs (XFX brand) has a clock speed of 485-550. Now which card is better an x800xt (500-500) or a 6800gs (485-550)?

What? (your name AND my exclamation ) isn' the 6800GS the new low end of the nVidia 6800 series?

EDIT/// I just checked, its apparently 40% faster than the 6800 but costs the same, and its as fast as a X1600XT, not X800XT. Any X800XT or even X800XL should DEMOLISH that card and an X800PRO should come out above it as well.

Good choice Slymester Although I would not know since I went straight from a PCI GeForce 4 MX440 to a PCIe X600XT and then to my X800XL within a year, I have never owned an AGP card! Isn't THAT something lol!

6800gs is the newest addition to the 6800 series, its suppose to be the middle man between a 6800 and a 6800gt but...

while it has less Pipelines (12) the card has been optimized for newer games, uses similar parts to the 7800 series. It runs at faster clocks and since its been optimized it is equal to the 6800gt fps wise stock.

It overclocks Alot, notice my prof my card hits 1300 on the memory with ease, it hit 1200 using the auto detect in coolbits. CPU hits 500. This is a huge increase in performance. And puts it past a stock Ultra.
+
Its 200$

And btw, i suggested this card to you a long while ago.
Get the evga if its cheaper than the xfx. Im betting they have the same roof for overclocking, so dont waste money because it comes overclocked from the manufacturer.

I know you suggested this card to me but the name of the thread is "x800xt vs 6800gs" not "what card i want"

Well if you are gonig to spend 300$ on a card why is there even a thought on what card to get, as it should be the 7800gt for 299$.

If you are spending 200$ the gs will be the best investment. The only game that the xt will beat teh OC'd gs in will be HL2 based games, and the difference wont be noticeable.

If you are going to compare cards, you have to keep the comparison in the same price bracket.
