Alright, so I downloaded and installed Backtrack4 and burnt it to a DVD disc. Put it in my HP computer with a Pentium D, and the iso boots to a GRUB command line and I can't figure out why. No graphical interface. I looked at the How To Video and they don't get this, so... what exactly am I doing wrong? I honestly have no idea. If anyone needs a video, I will gladly record one for you.

Try, if you have a spare usb stick around, putting the iso on the usb pen. with "unetbootin", it looks like a bad burn but i can't be sure,
also i prefer bt3 to 4 although bt4 does boast a few improvements over bt3,
good luck
link to unetbootin : http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

That is really strange. Try booting it from a liveCD. Then when you get to command line type startx.

I am having the exact same problem. I boot off the Backtrack 4 dvd, and instead of getting the normal boot up screen, I get a grub> command line. I tried typing 'startx' and 'flux' at the command line, but all it says is 'Error 27: Unrecognized command'.
There is a command available called 'boot', but when I type boot at the command line, it says:
grub> boot
Starting up...
Error 8: Kernel must be loaded before booting
then I tried:
grub> kernel
Error 12: Invalid device requested
grub> help kernel
kernel: kernel [--no-mem-option] [--type=TYPE] FILE [ARG ...]
Attempt to load the primary boot image from FILE. The rest of the line is passed verbatim as the "kernel command line". Any modules .....
Any ideas here? Thank you.

He is not in Linux command line, he is in GRUB command line. So Linux has not yet loaded.

1) Hardware incompatibility, try different iso
2) bad ISO, re-download or get a different iso
since it's an iso ment for a live cd it's probably in a squashfs and so fixing it manually would be a real pain, those are the options I would do
