Phenom 2 x3 w/ GA790x-udp4 build. quick questions!

this is a continuation of this thread here

Started building today. Everything going pretty smooth. Pictures will be up soon.

Two questions...

I had trouble with one of the mobo standoff screws, i know i put a standoff below it, and it was lined up when i put the screw in but the screw just sits at the bottom and spins. I cant seem to back it out. Do i need to unscrew everything and pull the mobo out? or should i just leave it how it is.

This board has a bank of Sata2 connectors, and then 2 purple Gsata2 connectors, what should i connect to the purple connectors?

one more, i have this case RC-690-KKN1-GP, it seems as though only 6 standoffs line up with the mobo holes. should there be more? the right side of the mobo kinda hangs off a bit, with no matching holes on the right side corners

thanks
B

One standoff will be fine not screwed in; just leave it. If you would ever want to remove it (this happened to me) take the motherboard out of the case and hold the standoff with pliers while you screw to remove it.

Don't use the Gsata connectors. The normal ones run off the southbridge and will be faster. The Gsata ones run off a dedicated chip which will be inherently slower, especially for RAID.

6 standoffs is probably enough, I'm not familiar with that case though. I know I just use 5 standoffs because I'm lazy (the 4 outer ones and one in the middle.)

Hope this helps.

Sounds like you may have a crossthreaded screw, if all others are in and it doesnt bother you knowing its loose I think it'll be ok, I believe the g-sata connectors function the same they just use a different controller, would refer to motherboard manual for more info.

heres some pics let me know if theres anything i should change, wasnt so sure about wiring things. anyway, good news, i turned it on, it posted. Bios options came up, idle temps looked good! Will install an OS tomorrow

I tucked all the extra PSU cables under the buttom most Hard drive insert, seem to be tidy and out of the way there.

ok, that lets you see how i set everything up, here are just some random hardware porn shots.

Everything looks nice. Time for cable management. It's what that case is best for.

'Grats on the no fuss, no trouble build. I know many people have problems setting it up initially.

is there more i should do with the cables? this was my best attempt at cable management, with them all tucked away for the most part.

few other things now that im setup, idle temp on the grfx card seems a bit high, 62 degrees.

I havent changed any bios settings or any system settings for the most part. id like some advice on what i should set timings at and basic 'tuning' i guess is the word. im ok with some light overclocking, but running cool quiet and saving energy for the most part would be my preference.

heres some shots from easytune 6

have to link them fotki hotlink wont work for some reason
