Wanting to upgrade!!!

Thread Starter
Alright, I am wanting to upgrade not cause I need to, but because I want to. I have recently read alot of stuff about the new series of cards for ati. To be honest I am really pumped. I have my eye on the 1600xt. What do ya think?
Here is the kicker. I haven't seen any of these new cards for agp!!! I have the DFI lanparty 250 mobo, I do have 4 pci slots but I am using the agp slot! Can I buy a pci card and just use a pci slot without anything in the agp slot????? I really dont want to buy a new mobo just to upgrade my video card.

The Radeon 1k series dosnt come in AGP. AGP is near dead, stores have been carrying less and less AGP cards. My guess is that AGP cards will be extinct (no longer in production) by March. If you want an upgrade, buy yourself an x850 Pro, get a Salman VF700Cu and flash the card to XTPE.

No, it won't. You will need to buy a PCI-E motherboard. But good news, there are SKT 754 PCI-E motherboards, so you won't have to buy a new processor if you plan on upgrading to PCI-E.

Before you get all pumped up, just bear in mind there is no guarantee your Pro will mod to XT or XT PE, and in fact, as of late, the chances have gotten less. So consider your otpions carefully.

you might try one of the ASRock products (ASUS value line) that have the upgrade series: the 939dual

it'll give you the flexibility of both agp and pci express, but I don't know if it is the right socket type for you, sorry
