Have you considered cutting the UHAF thing out on the side and putting a sheet of acrylic under it, then putting some green cathodes to light it up? A'kuz that would be awesome.

Thanks, but I just realized I created a new problem by sliding them in there; my X-fi card was SO HOT!:CLOCK:

id10t error: I have a super nice tri-pod as a matter of fact. I don't know WhyTF I didn't think of getting that out for those shots. Oh well, I never said I was a photographer. haha Next time, they'll be in focus. In my defense, the majority of the pictures in the beginning of the thread were taken by my phone. It was all I had around at the time. There's no excuse though, for these last ones.

That's one heck of a good idea there mate! My plan for this build however was to create something more along the lines of what could possible be bought right out of the Cooler Master store.

I just put a heat sink on the x-fi processor and x-ram chip to be safe. Who knows if it made a difference. . .. I had one.

Hey when you were messing with the cathode did you cut the cathode white wires? They are monumentally short and I want to extend them. I'm guessing they're just wire and it should be easy to replace it with my UV wire but you never know. Might as well ask first right?

Yeah, they're just wires. If I were to do it, I'd cut the wires about and inch past the bulb, strip them and then do what you have planned. That way you don't have to mess with the connection directly to the bulb and you can still cover up your solder points with shrink tube after sleeving them.

I just got done sleeving those cathode bulbs in the front of my case to dim them down. I'll post pictures tomorrow. I also installed a switch for them that worked out very well.

Oh and I did another hardware mod today for yet another temp dropping solution. Pics coming. Too tired now!

Be careful how much you extend them! You may find they start to dim if you were to go over around 45cm

Use 16ga wire and you'll be able to go 10 feet long. I'm pretty sure they are wired with 18ga wire. Just don't use anything thinner than what's there and you'll be fine. I'm talking about the wire itself, not the insulation around the wire.

Well I'm changed things up a bit on the inside in hopes of dropping GPU and MB temps. Though the two 40mm fans helped drop the upper GPU temps, I knew I could do better, so I pulled them out and then searched around for a fan to put on my modded SB Thermalright HR-05 heatsink. I found a nice 70mm X 10mm fan sitting on an old PIII MB and it turned out it was in great shape. I knew the fan would be a pretty tight fit between the heatsink and the lower GPU, so I got out the dremel and went to work removing the majority of one side allowing all the airflow to escape outward away from both VGAs and the X-fi card. I even had room to install my video capture card below my sound card tonight. After turning it on, I was blown away by the airflow bursting outward from that fan!

While inside the case, I felt above the NB heatsink and I was not at all impressed with the airflow coming through it. Especially after feeling what that 70mm fan will blow out sideways. So I decided to melt the two 40mm fans together and mount them on the NB instead. I know it's not at cool looking as that aluminum 60mm fan I had on there was, but this little pair is FTW let me tell you! They're growing on me. Performance comes 1st.

Since I got rid of the NB fan, I am thinking of changing out the matching rear aluminum exhaust fan now too. For those of you that read as well as check out the pics, what say yous about either using my Xigmatek Black Night 120mm fan that is smoke in color and has white LEDs, or using another CM 120mm green LED fan? Both fans are 90CFM.

I got a little annoyed with the brightness of the 8" cold cathodes in the front, so I went ahead and sleeved them to dim them down a bit. I much happier with it now. Especially since I can switch them off completely now from the outside of the case. The best part about that is I don't have to see an ugly switch anywhere.

I also completely disassembled both of the GTX 260s and reseated the GPUs with AS5 as well as adding new thermal pads to the GDDR3 and mosfets. Now since adding that wee fan on the HR-05 and cleaning out both GPUs, they are idling at 41C!

Today was a true sucksex story!
