Why do you suggest a 4000 over a 3700? Explain where you think the 12X multiplier will come in handy.

K you guys are only listing 4 items there are more in a system. Do you need a new monitor keyboard and mouse? You need a case powersupply cdrom drives. Unless you already have this stuff.

Id say go all out on a cpu and keep that board and go all out on the gfx card aswell. Then buy a very nice monitor. Later on if you want to get sli get a new board and you will then have a monitor that you will actually be able to see the difference on.

I have never really throught about that much, I don't know is it worth .2GHz for $101 when your going to overclock it? Will compared to the $400 price change from the 4000+ to the FX-55 it looks like a good deal but I don't know I would like to hear other peoples throughts on this.

Asus mobos don't overclock well (1.55 vcore max and 3.0 vdimm max). The DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert is the way to go if you plan on overclocking. And you know what? Dual PCIe X16 lanes will do nothing for you. AGP X8 is far from saturated, let alone dual PCIe X8 lanes, it's just that technology has moved on. Don't believe the hype. That said, here's my recommendation:

DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert
Opteron 146 which you can OC the living hell out of
BFG Geforce 7800GTX 512mb
OCZ Gold Gamer eXtreme Edition 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 433 (PC 3500) Dual Channel Kit System Memory

$1400
- $199
- $201.63
- $749
- $173.44
__________
$76.93

That leftover cash will probably go to shipping .

You don't wanna put OCZ Gold with a DFI motherboard. That's only asking for trouble. Google "cold boot bug" over at DFI-Street.com if you don't know what I'm talking about.

That problem was with the Ultra-D, SLI-D, and SLI-DR, which couldn't boot with RAM that had Winbond UTT chips. The Expert solves the problem and works fine with Winbond BH/UTT.
