F@H v. 5.03 conflict with 3D applications

Thread Starter
hello,

Having a problem with 3D applications in full-screen mode minimizing themselves to the taskbar when F@H is running. To see if you have this problem hit start, run, type dxdiag and hit ok. Choose the display tab and then hit test button for direct 3D. You should get a black full-screen with a spinning cube. With F@H running these screens minimize to the taskbar with an error that says "user canceled test by pressing a key". I didnt press anything or even move my mouse. Would like to know if anyone else has this problem. I have to pause and exit F@H now if I want to run anything 3D in full-screen-mode. If you do have this problem look for similarities in system specs with my rig and if there are no similarities there maybe post your process info.

If you get the console version "no-nonsense" that dosent happen. the 3d version will always have that problem.

Just use the console version.

will do.

Probably unrelated to the above metioned problem but not worth starting a new thread for is this brand new problem. F@H was working on one WU then, before it was done, started on a new WU. I thought this new WU might be a subset of the first one so I ignored it but was later looking at the log and saw this.
--------------------------------------
F@H log:

[19:47:13] Writing local files
[19:47:13] Extra SSE boost OK.
[19:47:13] Writing local files
[19:47:13] Completed 0 out of 1000000 steps (0)
[19:55:18] Quit 101 - Fatal error:
[19:55:18] Step 5254, time 10.508 (ps) LINCS WARNING
[19:55:18] relative constraint deviation after LINCS:
[19:55:18] max 2805256.000000 (between atoms 11 and 13) rms 213498.093750
[19:55:18]
[19:55:18] Simulation instability has been encountered. The run has entered a
[19:55:18] state from which no further progress can be made.
[19:55:18] This may be the correct result of the simulation, however if you
[19:55:18] often see other project units terminating early like this
[19:55:18] too, you may wish to check the stability of your computer (issues
[19:55:18] such as high temperature, overclocking, etc.).
[19:55:18] Going to send back what have done.
[19:55:18] logfile size: 17467
[19:55:18] - Writing 18155 bytes of core data to disk...
[19:55:18] ... Done.
[19:55:18]
[19:55:18] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
[19:55:20] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
[19:55:20] Sending work to server
------------------------------------------

My CPU is Oc'ed but temp remains steady @ 50-53c full load. I'm having no other apparent instability issues after 24 hours of running my Athlon XP Mobile with 12.5 Multiplier and fsb @ 198MHz (2477Mhz). Even when running MSFS 2004 (A very demanding game on full settings and very succeptable to stability issues).
