Double Fans

Thread Starter
I was thinking, I have an extra fan that came with the typhoon since I replaced the typhoon fan with a higher cfm. I was wondering, Could I place that fan, lets say 2-3" from the intake fan and increase the airflow, or would this have a negative effect. I know that if you place them ontop of each other it will have a negative effect.

How far would it need to be from the first fan?

It just wouldnt work man.
THO you could use it to direct the cool airflow onto something such as the NB etc.
But trying to get more cfm just wont work.

In order for it to work the fans would have to be spinning in opposite directions or else you would be getting the exact same airflow as the bottom fan with ALOT more noise.

There are SOME fans that spin counter clock-wise, But they are ALOT harder to find and usually cost more.

SEMI off-topic* - Delta makes 120MM fans that are two blades enclosed in a single shell that has one fan spinning clock-wise and the other spinning counter clock-wise, They pushed something just above 230CFM with just over 50dBa, But they only made a small batch of them, And they are EXTREMELY hard to find. If you can find them, Buy them, They're definatly worth it, Even though they have a depth of about 80MM!

Hope ya dont mind if I jump in here chopes, but what if when I get my w/c system, I took the fan off my current HS and changed the stock DFI one, would it make my NB cooler?

well , i but i did this, and it worked. (but they were about 3-4 inches apart) i had my old 28cfm fan feeding my 73cfm fan. running the old fan at high speed, and the new one at lower speed, and got the same temp as when i didn't have the old one feeding the new one, while the new one was at high speed. so i got the same temp at low rpm, with the two fans, and lower when run on high. (case cutting might be necessary) hope this helps.
