The Core i7 100% Stability Club - Page 82

The original author had the right idea. I was wondering why my Gigaflops were a little on the low side and now I know why. Everyone needs to read this:
http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/645392-how-run-linpack-stress-test-linx.html
It also helps both Linx and IBT to update the Linpack libraries manually to the latest version.
When running Linx or IBT the GigaFlops have to be close to the rating for your particular chip. If it isn't then, you're not stressing the Overclock correctly.
After I loosely followed this guide my GigaFlops increased dramatically and my core temps rocketed by 5°C:eek: Luckily, I had previously increased my vcore and my qpi voltage due to Prime 95 Bsod after 8hrs. I now feel that if Linx is run properly, it will tell you if you're overclock is stable within 99%, I would guess:rolleyes:

My i7 920 d0 @ 4Ghz is the most stable CPU in this club.. It passed 500x LinX !
What's more impressive is that it's still on STOCK voltages and on air smile.gif

It's not dead. It's just a lot of work to sort through over 800 posts and verify everyone's submissions. I'll have it all up to date soon, though. Please be patient smile.gif

Can I join the club?
Corei793038GHzLinx1.jpg

Core i7 at 3.8 GHz with Vcore set to 1.2125 in BIOS. Mx temp was 70 C on Core 0 with ambient temperatures ranging from 21.5 C to 23.9 C due to the space heater effect of my rig. I can pass Prime95 for hours and hours at 1.20625, but I got an error in Linx on the 3rd run and had to bump it up. I guess that's my stability Vcore. I want to get a better heatsink before I go for 4.0+ stability.

4.2 with HT off is where It'll have to be for the ranking, but not for practical use.

My CPU just runs too damn warm with hyperthreading on after I go over "the wall" (3.9 Ghz and up = too hot for my liking)

It really really likes 3.8 Ghz / HT ON @ 1.225 vcore / qpi @ around 73c under load.. Very cool for where I am with my ambient temps and my little gaming case, etc. But as soon as I have to start pumping in the Vcore, temps go up +10-13c @ load, putting me in the 85c+ range. Stable but no bueno on the temps!
