I was useing onboard sound witch was connected to my Sony surrond sound but as soon as i would turn the volume up my recever would go into protectd mode. When i bought an Audigy 2 zs i had no probs and noticed alot of sound difference. For now the Audigy is great for currenet games but like most things, something thats overkill now will be just ok later on, just keep that in mind.

Ya,it has digital output. The top "hole" on the back interface can be configured to be a few different things. Digital output is one of the options. I have it configured to be my analog mic input. It does not have optical, however. I'm guessing that you want to hook this up to your home digital preamp or receiver? If so, as long as it has coaxial digital input, you're good to go.

Look at the times of the posts when that happens and you can see that the people are writing at the same time. Never intended to be redundant or point out something that was already noted.
