Windows keeps restarting before it boots

Thread Starter
I have no idea what to do here.

Earlier today I checked "/safeboot" under boot.ini in the system config utility, so I could use driver cleaner in safe mode after a reboot.

Now windows restarts before it finishes booting no matter what I do. This includes safe mode. I've also tried a repair installation, and it does the same thing. It reboots during the "Windows XP" boot screen, with the blue loading bars underneath.

Hardware wise, I've tried different RAM (made no difference), and I reset CMOS (so I'm at stock speeds right now).

Any ideas? If it helps at all I can access the recovery console, but I don't know what to do with that.

uncheck safeboot, disable this driver cleaner you speak ofand if that doesn't work go back to the restore point you were at a week or two ago.

This because vital files for the OS to run properly have been removed or damaged unfortuantely if you cant get nito the OS in anyway a reformat is the only way..But i would reccomend istalling norton goback next time you get your OS sorted as this program takes snapshots of your OS and can restore all of it baxk to certain times.

Have you tried the boot logging option from the menu screen after you press f8

You also have a couple of other options. You can either have a friend with the same OS make you a boot disk or, use the ultimate resource, http://www.bootdisk.com !!
