Hey,

I have this new job and well I get payed relatively well around $500 a week.

Out of that i need to pay board and other things, so i'll prolly be able to save around $300 a week, so i worked out that it'll take around 10 weeks to save for this rig... anyway onto what i'm looking into getting

PSU:
SILVERSTONE 600W MODULAR POWER SUPPLY
Mobo:
DFI LanParty nF4 UT SLi-DR Expert
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+, Socket 939, "Venice Core"
Case:
Thermaltake Armor VA8000SWA Silver (no PSU)
GPU:
XFX GF PCIe GF7800 GTX 256MB

Memory:
OCZ EL DDR PC4000 Dual Channel Gold VX (2x512MB)

The other parts of the system like Floppy, HDD, DVD±RW etc.. will be stolen from my current rig. or i might buy some new stuffs i dunno depends on how much everything drops in the next 10-15 weeks or so.

The main thing i'm really worried about are the RAM and CPU, i'm pretty sure i want that PSU and GPU and the mobo is pretty certain as i have to get that PSU to use it properly overall those aprts came to about $2250 AUD which i thought wasn't too bad, and that was from no particular sites i just randomly went places just to find rough price estimates

Also CPU cooling, i'm looking to go Water, as i am pretty much building this to overclock it like a ***** so any suggestions on a good setup for water would be fantastic. Also i'm looking ot import my water cooling setup, as Australia has sweet bugger all for product range. i really only want to water cool the CPU the GPU i will get some nice air cooling, unless it's feasible and cost effective to cool the gpu as well.

If you can find it I'd go for the 512MB 7800GTX, or maybe 2x256MB-ers in SLI...

Get a 3700 San Diego core, it is a great overclocker and has x2 the L2 cache. It is really worth to spend a little more on it, other then that the setup looks awesome

i'm planning to purchase another 7800GTX at a later date so i can use SLI. the 512mb ones are a whole lot more expensive though aren't they??

as for the cpu, i heard some where that the 1mb cahe made the cpu a worse overclocker, but i guess they were talking crap the 3700 is about $50 more, i'm also considering going to a Dual core CPU, so yeah... i'll just see what's going on around the time of purchase which should be in around 13 weeks...

Are you insane? You're making $24000 a year, you're having to support yourself, and you are going to blow $3000 on a computer? Jesus Christ, man! If youoverclock right no computer should need to be over $1200. But that's not the point.... for the sake of your future, save your money and use it on more important things!

Get:
Opteron 148 (Equivalent to 3700+ but green and awesome)
MSI Neo-4 F
X1800XT 512
OR
X800 GTO and flash
and get your ram in 1GB sticks... prepares you for your upgrade.

yeah i've thought about that, but when i'm boarding for $100 a week and everything is counted in that... i do have the money to spare, if i don't spend it there i'm going to spend it out night clubbing or something, i'd much prefer to get myself something useful than a headache 7 days a week Also i live in australia so those 1200 US dollars add up to q $2200 aussie PC so far what i've totalled will cost me around $2700

I can understand the opty, but the MSI mobo?? aren't DFI better for O/C'in' or have they gone down hill?? don't the 1GB sticks have looser timings?? and i don't really want to spend $600-700 on RAM...
