9500GT 512MB DDR2 as Physx card?

Thread Starter
Hi i can get a cheap 9500GT (dual slot passive cooling)
I was thinking of running it as a Physx card along with my GTX260.
Is there any real benefit of doing this in games?
I mainly play:
Crysis
FC2
UT3
and some of the new racing games.
Also soon will play Diablo 3

Thanx

UT3 is the only game on your list that even uses PhysX.

Anyway, the 9500GT isn't a very fast PhysX card and probably would not gain you any performance.

If you PhysX card is too slow relative to your GPU, the rest of the system is going to wait around for that card, and it could even reduce performance in some case.

A 9600GT/GSO would be a better match for a GTX260.

Hello,

NVIDIA and the gaming development community is very pumped about PhysX and upcoming games will begin to take advantage of it more and more, (some games of course already do, and they look much better with it on ).

But back to your question, the GeForce 9500 GT is the bare minimum for running PhysX (32 cores), having a dedicated card would def off load some work from your CPU, and GPU, it certianly wouldnt hurt.

You can expect about a 5-15% increase in performance in games with PhysX enabled.

Hope this helps.
