what card would compare with a xb360 - Page 10

Actually my 3000+ runs at an equivilent 4.041 Ghz on the intel scale. thats a high end intel at stock(minus all the extra features if any). And you said and i quote "Higher core clock frequency means nothing." That is not true. A higher clock means alot. You do know that you have to multiply AMD speeds by 1.5 to get and intel equivilent right? And i didnt call you a "fanboy" of either. I was just stating that your statment was incorrect. Ill edit out the fool if it made offense.

yeah but what i meant was the obvious. come on if you have clock speed, intel and amd in the same sentence its gotta be obvious what im talking about. anyone who knows what overclocking means would know this.

But im not exactly sure how you figure the amd clock speeds to get pentium speeds but from further research, i've come to the conclusion that yonah is the best chip for overclockers right now. too bad theres only like 1 mobo to support this chip.

To get an estimate on how an AMD chip performs in comparison to an Intel multiply the AMD speed by 1.5. This is required knowledge for any overclocker . Anyways, that is just a rough estimate.
MHz isn't always everything (but more is always good). AMD chips do 9 operations per cycle while current Intel chips do 6. This is why AMD chips can get away with the lower frequencies. Intel knows this (or just realized it) that is why their new CPUs will be designed to do more operations per cycle.

Edit: When did this thread turn into a CPU war. Wasn't it about what graphics card can compare to a 360?

Wow is it my avatar that makes you gusy want to take shots at me? But like you said........ Its a rough estimate.

And as i said I have an FX-60 so i know where the performance is. If intel had the best dualcore chip out (Yonah) with supporting motherboards i would have bought they're top shelf chip.

But thats not the case.

OFF Topic:
But if you guys overclocking semprons and celerons want to act like your hardcore and what not go ahead. Well all know what we'd rather be oc'ing.

Amd fanboys could talk about how they could get an opty and overclock it to fx speeds and such. But what does that matter when the other guy has an fx overclocked?

I never did get that. He's still going to be faster.

But im really hoping intel comes back hard with conroe (i just love going for the underdog)

One actually gets more of a rush when he manages to get a lowly Sempron to FX speeds. Being able to successfully run a crappier CPU at speeds comparable to top of the line stuff DOES prove you are hardcore . As I see it, when you OC an already fast chip you go from fast to faster, but when you OC a slow chip you go from slow to fast. That just sounds much better.

your right. but thats just unrealistic. i wasn't really clear on that. what i was meaning to say. when people ask for advice on which chip to buy. and one of the options are an fx-60 people say get an opty, or x2 4800. i always say if you can afford it, hell go for it. its obviously the best.

Not sure if your being sarcastic but go ahead man. A laugh is always a good thing.
Back to what you said first, the reason people recommend what they do is because it is a sure thing that you can match if not surpass the performance of higher end stuff. By recommending a 4800 over a FX-60 we are just saying that for much less money you can get something that can perform just as good. We are just being helpful. After all, that is one of the main purposes of this forum.

Yeah i cant respect that. I had a hard time debating on what amd chip to get. I knew i didnt want to pay retail for an FX-60 but if a good deal presented itself i'd go for it.

I was being sarcastic on the quote. Even though unintentional, its still funny.
I always get rushes from putting out electrical fires.

I don't mind which chip is best =) if it runs the games of the day, what does it matter? I get as much out of what I've got as I can, isn't that the whole point?
