X800GTO or X800PRO?

Thread Starter
Both are from Sapphire and the price difference is negligible. I plan to unlock either one with the flashing of the bios.

My question is, everyone is always talking about unlocking the X800GTO, since the X800PRO is only a few dollars more should I purchase and unlock that?

Or is there a reason to stay with the X800GTO?

the agp versions dont unlock far as i know. the sapphire x800gto2 and the 3dconnect x800gto likely do but they are pci-e. they unlock to x850/xt/xtpe.

AGP: I have heard (but not experienced) that the AGP X800Pro is unlockable. Havben't heard anything about the AGP GTO (I saw it at one point, but it's not on newegg anymore.)

PCIe: Definitely get the GTO. It's cheaper than the PRO, and unlockable. The connect3D is the unlockable, that and the sapphire.

Dude, the GTO is cheaper than the PRO. and unlockable. Even if you can't unlock the connect3D, oc it and it will be better than the PRO.

Please read: price is negligible.

Also, these cards are both PCIe.

The PRO unlocks to 16 pipes and can be overclocked, from what I've read.

One more thing, for $30 more I could also pick up a X800XL or X850PRO. What do you guys think?

The X800 Pro sucks for the price you pay. I honestly don't recommend any of the X800 series cards but if you must get one, get the X800XL if you have that option. If you are going to get an X800 Pro, you might as well get a 6600 GT or wait for the 6800 GS AGP.
