Welcome to the boards =)
When you get some time check out the FAQs section (link in my sig) and the Folding @ Home section. Unfortuneatly you will not be able to overclock prebuilt machines from companies such as Dell and HP because they lock the motherboards up. If you buy a new mother board for those rigs you could overclock =)
Fill out the specs of your main rig for us, for future refrence. Click UserCP and then edit system specs.

Good luck and Enjoy! =)

EDIT: If you want to find some info about your machine you might not be able to find otherwise go to the Download section and get CPU-Z.

You must understand that it will take time for you to get to clocking at your own speed...time,parts,more time,etc...as long as you have somewhere to begin...there is no end !
Welcome to the best of the best...we'll make you better !

Ah I see you have:

"Intel Pentium M"

So, it runs at 600 MHz unplugged but about 1.5 GHz plugged in? They are nice laptops- Use Mcafee rather than Norton for Virus removal. I just did some work on one, and I did a Ctrl-F11 before backing up the documents! Make sure you back upo the docs before you ctrl-F11! (If you have to do that... I was forced to do it, cos I was a dumbarse and I locked myself out of the account, and my super secret XP Password changer would not work on the SAM files! Hehe.)(Cos I had not changed the user ID on the machine properly, so it was all my own fault HAHA!)

So what is that an Inspiron? I agree, you will never OC a stock Sony/Dell/HP/Compaq computer. You can't part out a laptop that easily, so you can't just switch video cards on a laptop with that Intel integrated chipset.

However, if you use Mcafee, and Webroot, you see, you do not want to use products that take over your whole system, like Norton Systemworks, which takes over the compleat explorer shell... Use simple programs that do not slow the system upo too much. Take note how many programs are running down in the systray at startup, and hit "Start" "Run" and type MSCONFIG... So to the Startup Property sheet, and remove excess programs. You do not NEED Realplayer to start, you do nto need PowerDVD to start, you do not even need "Loadpowerprofile" to start, you can safely shut off ALL of the items under startup, then turn them back on one at a time until the computer is running at a decent speed.

Also you can check what services are running at startup- A lot of them can be shut down. But be very careful which ones you shiut down. You can usually do web searches on each item and find out exactly what it does.

Well, Bad news, was in the process of getting into the apartment and the strap to the bag that I carry my notebook in broke and sent it down 3 stories, in essence making one fairly large notebook into a bunch of little notebook pieces. But now I have a big Dell Dimension desktop to work with. Not as fun as my notebook but still fun
