Athlon mobile 35W, max overclock?

Thread Starter
I am going to try a new OC setup:
- Athlon mobile 3000+ 35W 1.2V 2.0GHz (140$)
- Geil 512MB (2x256MB) DDR PC4000 500MHz DC CL2.5 3.5nS 2.6-2.9V
- MSI K8NM, nforce3-250
- Air cooled with Thermaltake Hammer525 all Cu heatsink and Papst 12dBa 80mm 1700RPM fan
How far can I expect to push the FSB with this CPU? How much will I have to rise the voltage? Was hoping to get above 250MHz with full RAM clock speed without getting too hot. Share your experiences with me!
If this works fine I will abandon my Turion ML-32. Still aiming for a quiet multimedia PC with high WAF for my living room.

The XP-M 3000, to my knowledge, is not that different from it's non-mobile counterpart. The mobile chips above the 2600 does not have lower voltage. So you may get a decent overclock but don't expect a great overclock without upping the voltage quite a bit.

Are we talking about a A64 DTR? if So i have one that hit 2.8ghz on air. it has a low 9 multi so you have to raise the fsb alot and probably use a divider. As for voltage i brought mine up to 1.850 with out any problem. It is a very good chip and one of my favorite chips i have ever overclocked!!

It has the model number AMD3000BQX4AX and the name is Odessa. Some sites has it that the frequency is 1.8GHz, and others 2.0GHz. It is definitly 1.2V, 35W, 130nm, 512kB cache. Have not bought it yet so I will have to ask what multiplier it actually has got. Not interested in a 1.8GHz.

Correct me if I'm wrong: s754 turion we're talking about? They don't usually break 2.6-2.7. They're just mobile chips for laptops, no spectacular clocking going on. (3GHz is not a reality)

Silent + peltier do not mix.
Peltiers add a LOT of heat to a system, and you usually want the max wattage of the chip times TWO. So maybe 70-120w pelt. Enjoy, now you have the 35w processor + 100w pelt to cool = ~135w. This is like a prescott at 4GHz. (!!) Unless you enjoy blood coming out of your ears, you're stuck with water cooling. Add that to the bill. See how close we're getting to phase?

However, you do get subzeroish temps. However, if you are looking at a pelt, look a little bit farther to phase change.

Newarks don't come in 35w, 1.2v, or 130nm versions. However, I see Odessa as a supermobile Clawhammer...which means 1mb not 512k. Hrm. Can you give us a link to this cpu you talk about?

1.8 and 2.0 aren't that far apart...it's just a multiplier. Instead of 270fsb, use 300. Simple.

Socket 754, and it is a Athlon mobile, not a Turion as I am currently running. Here are a link: http://www.thedigerati.us/info/amdcpuchart.html
Search for AMD3000BQX4AX.
I did not managed stable FSB above 250MHz on the Turin and was aiming for at least 2.5GHz with this on at 250MHz FSB.
