Well, the shop was what told me the other card was DOA. It never went to the shop with this new one yet. I cant underclock anything as it is at all stock speeds/I dont want to mess with the clock of my comp quite yet. I have tried all the power connecters off of my power supply to the card and no difference. The card is seated correctly, when it is in. Right now I have the ATI in it, and Im going to have the shop put the card in one of their comps tomorrow or wednesday and that will tell us whether its my comp or the card.

It crashes in any 3d application, even something as simple at ATITOOL, with the little spinny cube thingy. 15 seconds into it and the whole computer freezes.

I think its your PSU. Those Ultras arent very reliable at all and its probably not giving enough power to your card.
Very nice!

I have been having similar problems. I can run 2D applications just fine, but once I load a game my computer sometimes freezes. I have arrived to the conclusion after much tedious testing that it is either my video card thats failing or some issue with Windows (registry corruption).
Try lowering your cards hardware acceleration. If the problems go away then it is very likely that its faulty.
