How do I change the bootloader that comes with lunix (I think its called GRUB or something) so that the default OS loaded is Windows.

This may depend on what distro your using, but in Mandrake, go to system, configure, control center, boot loader, and set the boot device to windows partition.

If this doesn't work, try booting from your linux disk, type "rescue" in boot line, and try to reinstall grub and set to windows, or reconfigure to load windows.

only most linuz distros grub can only be configured when you first install linux so you might have to do a complete reinstall

Not really.. as I said, he can just boot off the Linux disk and reinstall Grub if necessary. I've done it with
Lilo when Windows overwrites the MBR.

but thats basically a reinstall as it doesn't only overwrite one portion but everything. Plus by doing that before formatting that hd can result with multiple files and some linux distros failing.

What would happen if i deleted the lunix partition?

Could I do that and then install a new booloader (or perhaps the default windows one again)

Im still saying that you should just reinstall/reconfigure Grub from your Linux disc, but anyway... You can reinstall Linux without deleting the partition, just format before installing Linux on it.

I tried reconfiguring the bootloader. I just puts lunix to boot first, it doesn't give me an option to let windows be first.

And what I said was remove linux, not putting it back on.

Did you try to configure it from Linux? Anyway, you can just delete the partition, create a new one, and format it with FAT32 or NTFS. You could also resize your Windows partition to use the free space, but you need some software(really don't remember which now) but I wouldn't really recommend doing that.

You can download and install an indipendant boot loader, and you can choose what boots up while installing it.

Something like this should work:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=488299
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=65938
I haven't tried it but I did a quick search and it popped up.
