Two things: Say NO to Ultra, and is this new PSU good? - Page 2

post #11 of 32
The truepower was not it the last maximumPC showdown. But he neopower got the kick ass award. The PC Power and cooling was close. They wished it had modular cables is all. The ultra xconnect started smelling like burnt plastic durring the load test. It also was very high on the 12v rail like 12.43 volts or someting insane like that. I have heard mixxed revies on the ultra. Maybe i will buy one and see if i can kill it

lol you just have to watch some videos until it sparks out...maybe it'll blow sooner when it catches you looking at other power supplies on Newegg ; )

Theres a reason PCP&C don't have modular cables Its on their website. I wish people would stop banging on about modular and not modular, the fact is from a practical point of veiw straight cables are better - and for people like us with power hungry computers then you end up using the same cables as before

That Antec 480W PSU should power the computer you have now fine.

freedom, if i EVER hear you say you bought a PSU for its LOOKS again, im gonna hunt you down and help your father kick the crap out of you >.< when it comes to a PSU its not about looks, its about POWER, its a POWER supply unit, not a COOL LOOKING EXPLODE IN YOUR FACE.

lol HAHA, yeah, but I decided on the Ultra then, so I decided if I'm going to get it, why not get a good looking Ultra while I'm at it? It was mainly about the power, dude. But unfortunately for me, that 'power' pooped out on me rather quickly 0_o;;

So, 480 enough? Or should I go for the 550? I only have so much money, and I gotta go to the Winter Ball with my gf this Friday, then I gotta buy her one more Christmas gift and maybe buy some presents for my brother (my dog). Oh yeah, and maybe my family too...my parents always cover for me at Christmas time XP
