Hi! I'm new here and I'm really fascinated about overclocking my rig.

I just registered today and I really need help about the ATI Tool. What do I need to click first? The Get Max Core or the Get Max Memory? Coz when I tried the latter, then after i noticed that it stopped at a certain number, I aborted it then clicked Get Max Core. Then I started to get the white dots (glitches or "artifacts") and my core DROPPED really low! So basically that's one of my questions and if there is a good-hearted professional OCer out there that's willing to help a newcomer (hate to call myself n00b) in the world of overclocking like me, thank you very much in advance.

(Please have a look at my specs for you to know how to help me.) Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the boards =)
When you get time you should cheack out the FAQs section and the Folding @ home section.
I believe ATi Tool scans for your maximum overclock and detects where the card starts to artifact. I've never used ATi Tool before ( to oc an ATI card ) but I believe that if you hit find max and let it sit for half an hour or an hour it will find level off at your highest stable clock speed.

Enjoy your stay here! =)

Yes, you are doing it right. Start with "Get Max Core" and leave memory at stock. Then when ATI Tool has found a value, click "Get Max Memory" and let a value come back. You should leave each separate test for about an hour with no artifacts.
If you get artifacts at or lower than stock, you should consider better cooling for the case/card. The artifacts appear because either the core or memory is getting too hot. Hope this helps.
