Reliable PSU Please?

Thread Starter
I need a PSU for my AMD build. 24-Pin connector, that is compatible with a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert Mobo...

I came across one that looked good, but a reviewer said it wouldn't work with this mobo and he showed a thread on another forum with other having that problem, so I need one that works with my lanparty. I would also like it to be SLI compatible, although it is not a necessity, I was just thinking that there may be some possibility I may try SLI in the future. But for now my plan is just a 6800GS. So SLI is not needed right now, although it would be good.

I don't want to spend like $175 for a good PSU if I don't have to, so if someone knows of a decent, reliable 24-pin connector PSU compatible with my lanparty, that would be great.

If you need to see the rest of what I plan to get, you can see here:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...uild-help.html

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much

[EDIT] Oh, so a 20+4 PIN connector will work like a 24 pin connector will? (I'm new to hardware, so I'm learning these things, especially with building this new PC)

If it were me, I'd substitute a MSI Neo4-F and a 7800gt instead. Comes out to the same cost, but you'll end up with a faster machine.

The DFI must have a native 24-pin PSU, so one that has a 20+4 to make up the 24pin will be fine, just do not use a 20-24-pin adaptor.

Looking at your buold I would suggest a 500+ PSU... the better the PSU you can afford will help ensure that when OC'ing the rails will deliver to the system. You have a budget which will allow a good unit ...

I wasn't planning on getting an adapter

And yes, I was definitely gonna get at least a 500W PSU... I've learned that by just reading around here and the reviews on Newegg...

Well, it actually comes out to a little bit more... (not much, but a little more)

And I don't need a video card as powerful as the 7800GT, I'm not looking for the most amazing, best graphics I can find. I just want to be able to play the game decently, and a 6800GS will do just fine for me.

And I hear that the Lanparty mobos are supposed to be very good, so that's why I chose that.

But thank you for your suggestion

Well, I would really prefer to order from Newegg, so of those ones suggested in that FAQ I narrowed it down to 2 PSUs:

~OCZ Powerstream OCZ520ADJSLI 520W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817711002

or

~Enermax EG565AX-VEFMA2.0-SLI 535W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103462

Which one of those? Or even another if someone has one to suggest... if you do, just remember 24pin or 20+4pin, at least 500W, and SLI is preferred, although not necessary.

Thanks again

Of those two the OCZ would be a better choice.

Have you also looked at the Sunbeam Nuuo 550w for $79?

Hm, Thank you, although now the price is starting to do that thing where you can get something a little better for a little more... lol

"Hm, its $140, but I can get this one for $150...

And I can get this one for only $15 more, and it's a little better...

And this one is only $10 more..."

lol, I've been doing that throughout the building process of this PC haha

But I'll consider that PSU also. Thanks

Wow, That looks like a great deal, but is it a decent PSU? It won't burn up on me right out of the box, will it? lol
