New AMD

Thread Starter
Well, I bent a prong on my Athlon 3000+ 64

All heartbreak aside tho, obviously I need a new processor. My question is which one should I get? I am not the expert on AMD's so I don't know any good ones.

I have a socket 939 motherboard and I need a good one in the 150-300 USD range.

Cheers!

There are 6 prongs bent and I think I could bend them back but they are so tiny so what would I use or how would I do it?

Smallest Needle-nose pliers you can find. I've done that to a few processors myself, just bent em back and they kept on working.

Just an option for you, but have you called AMD? I've heard of them asking to see it and then shipping a new one. It's a longshot, but why not try?

I bent a bunch on mine before. My Athlon 64 3200+. I dropped it when I putting it onto the board or something, can't remember now. My heart stopped when I did it I think. lol. Luckily, I was able to take small needle nose pliers and a really small screwdriver, and bend them all back. It took a while, but it was worth it, it's still working great for me!!
