880 is dual core and allows for multiple processors i think.

Hum, well for gaming, i would go for the intel. The Optys are made for servers really, but will do normal tasks similar if not better than the intel.

Actually, the 939 series Opteron's are excellent gamers... the 940 of old sucked at gaming

The 940 Opterons didn't suck at gaming either. Their only limitation was the required use of ECC/Registered RAM. Other than that, they weren't much different from the ClawHammers and San Diegos. An 880 has more internal Hyper-Transport interconnects for use with multi processing, all the way up to eight processors (the name making it obvious). The 280 is up to two-way (single or dual), and the 180 is single processor only. You want the 180 for two reasons. One, save yourself some money since the 8 series are incredibly expensive, and more importantly, you want Socket 939, which only the 1 series is avaialbe on.
