Add a big Hard drive to your Xbox 360

Thread Starter
"It has started. I always said that this will be the first thing people will get to work on the new Xbox 360. You can now use any harddrive you want (thus any size you wish) and connect it to your brand new Xbox 360 with USB. What do you need to do? Just format the drive the right way, thats all. The 20GB hard drive from Microsoft only lets you save content from Games, Xbox Live!, and music which was ripped from a CD thru your XBox 360".

Here is the Instructions http://llamma.com/xbox360/mods/USB%2...rive%20Mod.htm

It doesn't say if you can mount your game onto the portable hard drive.
Does anybody know if this is possible?
I was trying to find a 120 gig, but I guess they are not available in Canada anymore.
So I ended up buying a 60 gig. So I use that for my games and the old drive for demos.

Edit +1
Edit2: Well it appears you don't have a REP+ box.

No, it's not possible. You can do this, but it will only allow you to have music and video on there.

It will not allow you to save your game files or your game data or Arcade games or anything else. It will not act like an Xbox HDD at all.

This is only for Media. It states in the source.

The reason this is, is because all you are doing is formatting the drive and loading your media files.

If this was that easy, and was able to work with game saves, then nobody would have to format the BEVS drives to work inside the original 360 drive enclosure.

This is a great method for having more media, but it's missleading in making people think they can do this for game saves or for installing games to the drive, because it will not act this way at all.

The new dashboard update allows all (evebn profiles) on usb external drives (they had to after loosing to Datel in court) You can use a 1Tb if you have your box JTAG'd - which alllows you to do anything with ur box anywayz

But it is limited to 16GB.
If you have a JTAG, then this article should not matter to you at all.
Btw, good job with the necropost.
