Yeah, no I was not talking about VReg or System RAM. lol

Just GPU and RAM on the same card. If the block comes with tape then I would suggest using that anywhere it's too small to apply even the smallest amount of TIM.

Yikes I could see the masses lining up to draw and quarter me over burned cards due to applying TIM to the wrong spots. Nevermind non conductive TIM, that stuff can get everywhere if people aren't careful with it.

Well... it really is user beware and be cautious when you enter into the more interesting warranty voiding component modifications. I'm sure TIM would work on many other chip locations but I would test first. I would do a test fit by putting TIM on just the chips I want to try out, put the block on and see if they make good contact or not. Clean it up and then do a proper install. TIM is cheap... video cards... notso much.

Modding... it is a fun and scary place all at once in an expensive goodie filled playground.

EDIT: Oooo I think I just wrote myself a new signature line!

lol thanks guys I'm going to attempt to reuse the pads and hopefully that works. I know I have a little bit left from the original install so between the two I hope to get it under water tonight. I think I will order some new pads as well and redo it when I get my second 580 to be safe. Yes water cooling is a different animal altogether. But it's soo addicting!
