I think 20 runs should be good. Haven't have unstable cpu oc crash yet, but I do have unstable GPU oc crash in game.

I've had overclocks that passed 20 runs, but then failed when I loaded up another 20 runs.

Just to be safe doing 50 all the time now .

My system seems to struggle more with Prime 95 than IBT/LinX. I wonder if it's an architecture thing (Core 2 vs Core i7).

One difference that was pointed out to me by GigaByte (very astute observation on his part), is that with i7, there is more on-die cache, so the problem size must be increased, or it will "run-in-place", even on a Blend, lol.

In other words, you can run Blend on default problem size, without really stressing the IMC. That is why we use these settings, manually input this:
Min=8k
Max=4096k

And we do that for 4 hours, as a large fft/blend type test.

Of course, this would make P95 (unadjusted), less stressful, at least in that sense.

I hope I described this properly.

I am stable with every test mentioned by TwoCables here earlier in this thread except I have not tried IBT.

The reason being, I load at 76-78c with my current setup. I am afraid of pushing my beautiful new i7 with HT on to above 100c and seeing it melt.

Should I further test with IBT? Or will it kill my proc to get 50 passes?

IBT= just another Linpack stress tests. So if you have already ran 50 passes of Linpack you shouldn't be afraid of IBT.

Yes.

"LinX" is just a GUI for Linpack.

Edit:

Now, I hate it when someone comes and just reiterates what I just said; it makes me feel like my post does not exist.

But in my defense, I added that it is "just a GUI" [/FingerQuotes]

Pizzaman, firefox crashes.

lol, doesn't bother me a bit.

Linpack comes in three varieties that I know of, OCCT, Linx, & IBT. If anyone knows of any others, please link.

Maybe you could try some short runs of like 5 passes and see what your temps look like.

Wow, if you're getting FF crashes with your new setup maybe you should try reinstalling FF or maybe FF doesn't like high Ghz. idk, just weird.
