Thread Starter
Was planning on getting an amd setup and since i have no idea about amd, been with intel awile, i was wondering what is the best setup, m/b cpu, for my money and where i can get a decent combo for the price. I would like to have at least one pci 16 x slot other than that skys the limit. I plan on getting a new graphics but im 7800 gtx on that, reason for the pci x slot.

How much $ you got to spend?, If you go with AMD I've got a lot of info as I'm in the process of building one now.

Oh and I seen some bench's the other day, the SLI is almost worthless as it performed worse than a single card until the very biggest screen size where it needed the extra processing, and even then it was only 5-10 fps gain.

Probably an SD core 4000 and a DFI board. Not sure of the model number that would be preferred, however the DFI's support a lot of tweaks.

Maybe on old games and real low resolutions ... it's not useless, on some games you get 30-40 FPS better on mid-high resolutions, but personally i don't think it's worth it quite yet.

welcome, Post how much your looking to spend.
