I dunno if the 6800GS is ever going to come out on the AGP. As far as most manufacturers are concerned, AGP is dead, you won't see many mid-to-high range cards coming out on it any more.
6800gs agp will be here next week according to this

i read some reviews and at the time the 6800 failed some sm test compared toa 9800 it was sm2.0 but if he failed some of the shaders in 2.0 i dunnno if they fixed em in 3.0. but thats what ive been reading. im still really torn between the 2 cards.

The X850XT, but not by leaps and bounds as some people would like to think. Which is more future-proof? The 6800GT because it supports more advanced rendering modes like SM3.0 in DirectX 9.0c while the X850XT does not. Two important things to consider.
As far as I know though, the Nvidia cards failed all the Shader3.0 test that I've seen. Was that a fluke or do you have any info on them passing any of them? It'd be nice to know for future references. This won't be the last guy in this same situation, we might as well find out. Anyone have a link of any 6800 or 7800 cards passing Shader 3.0?

Yes, they fail the SM3.0 test, but you can still play games with SM3.0 enabled. I think that all of the parts that failed are hardcore SM3.0 aspects that are not used in games. Even so, all this is better than not having SM3.0 at all like the X850XT.

but if they fail sm 3 then how can they run sm3 in games?

It's the more obscure components of SM3.0 that failed, I believe, so you can still run SM3.0.

i have trouble beleving that the half almuminum base really makes a ton of difference. i had an alcu on my 6600gt and it dropped stock temps 8-15 degrees.
