Good RAM for overclocking?

Thread Starter
Im wondering what I should upgrade to. I'd like to be able to OC the system to about 3.1 Ghz (X2 3800+). I know my PQI ram is holding me back right now. For my system to be stable @ 2.6Ghz I have to set the ram to DDR 266. Which Im sure is hindering performance. I would like to keep my ram at DDR 400 if it's possible. I Plan on using a Peltier and a good watercooling setup to reach 3.1Ghz.

Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks!

hmm... that oc may be a stretch for that cpu... but the best RAM for ocing out is giel one TCCD.

My OCZ platinum rev. 2 hits DDR500 w/o a hitch. I haven't tried farther though. I'm not sure where it maxes.

G.Skill Extreme series (TCCD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231035

People on other forums have hit DDR 600 with 2.5-3-3-5, or 2.5-3-4-7
Basically really cheap DDR 600, I am getting a pair for myself soon.

He's got a DFI board, but it looks like a value board and not a Lanparty, so I don't know if that board can supply 4.0 volts max vdimm or not. If it can, get G.SKILL 3200 GH. Has Winbond UTT-BH5 chips (aka new BH5, not as good as the old stuff, but almost). You can break DDR500 without a sweat with 2-2-2-5 timings, but you'll need a lot of vdimm, around 3.4 volts at least. Some people have even gotten up to DDR540 with the same timings.

Edit: Just checked your board's specs, and it's 3.2 volts max , so go with the TCCD unless there is a new BIOS version released that can let you have higher vdimm.
