P6T SE deal thread turned discussion: Cross flash to P6T - Page 6

Thread Starter
it soulds like the OS is trying to boot, but there is a conflict with the chipset drivers and the SATA controller. This is very common because most people set the SATA controller to AHCI before installing windows. Once installed, you cant change to IDE or RAID mode on the controller (you can if you first boot to the original config, load windows and force driver install, but it isnt easy to do). The stupid thing is, when you reset the bios, the SATA controller gets set to IDE mode, which means the install wont boot until you change it back to AHCI (or RAID if you had a RAID config).

So if I'm understanding this (and your pm) correctly, it's a simple matter of changing a bios setting? I sure hope that's what it is! As I said, will be trying this first thing tonight and will post results.

Thanks again for the help.

bookmark, good job, thank u all.
Edit: Before I try this, can anyone pls tell me if it is really necessary to clear cmos after flashing, or can I just load default setting ? Because I thought those are just two different way to do the same thing. And how to clear bios, what jumpers are u guys talking about ?

And what options of the P6T bios do I have to disable ?

I've had issues booting, booted up to three times, then turn on. Then I got some issues saying Chassis intruded - Fatal error - System halted. Went into Bios disabled the floppy, and the Raid thing, also reseated the chassis bumper on the motherboard. It booted successfully Thanks again.

Ok. Cool. Now I just need to find someway to test this before I drop $400 on new cards.
I do have two cards... a GTX275 and a 9500gt, but I'm guessing since they differ the option wouldn't show up either.

I successfully flashed my P6T SE with the latest P6T bios version and everything works correctly except a few curious things have been happening. FOr one thing EVERY time I try to boot my computer it tries to boot 3 times before going to the ASUS motherboard screen. Secondly when in the OS I get blue screens after gaming for long periods in SLI (not sure if this is related to the bios change). But I never cleared the CMOS using jumpers or the battery, only by resetting settings in the BIOS. Could clearing the CMOS solve my problem (annoying because I cant find the jumpers and the battery is underneath my card). Please lemme know and Im sorry for digging up an old thread.
