Thread Starter
if i OC my Gigabyte/Radeon9000pro2Maya, how much core/mem speed increase should i (safely) be looking at.
stock speeds are 275/261. i have gone up to 290/275 just to try it, but don't know anything about safe increases.

Download ATi Tool and use the "Find max core" and "Find max mem" buttons, they will find your highest safe overclocks for you. Remember to have the 3d view open, its the button on the bottom left. Also let the program run for a couple hours at least.

i ran ati tool, and it ran my mem clock up to 284.6(from 261) and was fine, then i ran the max core, and it went up to 427 from (275) and crashed my system.
i have reset the core to 300 and mem to 275, and it runs ok now.
but i don't trust the ati tool coz it seemed to run the clock up too high and i don't want to burn my card out ( not yet anyway, LOL ).

Those are decent overclocks. You can also try opening ati tool and bringing up the 3d view, set your clocks to 300/275 and try raising the mem yourself. Just use the slider and raise it a few Mhz at a time and watch for artifacts in the 3d window. Once you see them lower it until they are all gone. Either way you have achieved a good overclock, now play some games .
