The ASUS/ASrock P55 and X58 Club & Discussion(Under construction) - Page 19

hmm. yeah well i had gone for a more extreme OC. but i have everything stock except for what i mentioned there pretty much. speed step is on and running the ram at 1.65 V

i really wouldn't recommend going past 3.6 ghz tho. doesn't really increase performance much and this board seems pretty sketchy at best. good luck man!

Got my 920 oc'ed to 3.73 pretty easily on the P6X58D. Only tested with an hour of OCCT and an hour of Prime95 but so far so good.

Any higher and I start getting BSOD's so will have to play around and see if I can up it a bit more. Was hoping to get to 4.0 but think I'll have to get better cooling. My temps are ~46c Idle and ~76c Load at 3.73 and if I have to push the voltage at this point my load temps will go above 80c which scares me.

Anyone know of a better air cooler that will fit in the P193? Anything taller than 144mm will require a mod the case.

Thanks,

So I fired up my build and my motherboard started smoking. Two leads off the chips that are in between the power button and reset button began smoking on initial power up of install..

anyone know what these do or what happened?

i5 processor/gskill 4gb ddr 1600/ASROCK P55 extreme/680watt powersupply

Thanks

I dont know if that issue is unique to ASRock p55 boards. I see people here mention p55 boards blowing up.

It seems one of the MAIN reasons for my lack of stability was having IOH @ 1.1 instead of 1.2... Now i am trying to figure out how low I can get my voltages while still being stable. I have more time to read now that school is over for a bit.

The red is the area that started smoking. Near the psu connector. The purple is the area of the board that seems to have a little discoloration.

Any ideas?

What are those little chips above the purple circle?

Looks like a grounding issue, which messed up the traces, though the image is pretty blurry.
