  1. Make sure your hard drive is set to AHCI.

  3. Manually set some of your voltages such as vdimm (RAM), VTT (though this could be set to AUTO), and manually set your RAM timings.
Thanks very much. I don't know what the voltage settings are supposed to be and I don't know what RAM timings are supposed to be. Can you tell me how to determine that?

They should be printed on the outside of the modules. You can either look up the part name or use CPU-Z to check the JEDEC specifications.

When I set my Hard Drive to AHCI in the BIOS my machine goes into an endless reboot. What am I doing wrong?

Reinstall windows with AHCI on. It's the only solution (well Win7 seems to be happy when I change mine).

Thanks. Can you tell me what the difference is between AHCI and SATA IDE? The Sata hard drive is installed as IDE right now. Is that bad for the drive? I really am new at this!

I found a tutorial that might be helpful to others. It shows how to change a drive to AHCI after Windows has been installed. I followed it and it worked VERY well.

Hope it helps someone.
