I had an Asrock P55 deluxe until yesterday, anyone else have this thing burn out on them when they overclock it?

After 3 days at 1.35 volts cpu at 4ghz it stopped working isolated the problem to the 8 pin power connector. every PSU i try i get no response from the computer.

Trying to RMA with Asrock now, hopefully there costumer support is decent

My x58 Extreme quit overclocking after an overnight defrag of a 1tb SATA drive connected via USB. The board would work fine at default clock settings, but would not overclock even the slightest. It had been rock solid for over 4 months prior to that. Asrock tech support said the board was defective and gave me an RMA. While waiting on the replacement board, I purchased an x58 Deluxe and it seems to be overclocking to 4.015ghz OK. I didn't perform a fresh install of the O/S though. The only problem I'm having with the Deluxe so far also seems to be USB related in that very large file transfers, like ripped movie DVD's, won't complete. I don't know whether this problem is O/S related or hardware related, so I'm testing a fresh install of the O/S to a separate clean hard drive. Still ongoing. I like the extra PCIe slot of the Deluxe, but prefer how the Extreme seems to handle overclocking a little better.

OK, the x58 Deluxe board was not the culprit. It was the HDD media player...

hey guys. quick update. I was having some minor hd issues so I decided to run spinrite. Well after a night of spinrite when I booted to windows my machine didn't even SEE my nic. So I updated bios reset cmos, default settings, everything. Well none of that worked. And in case any of you guys have this happen:

Shutting the computer down and then removing power from the wall fixed it.

Here's an odd one...

Anyone know why I can reach much higher Bclks using the OC Tuner than via
the BIOS? With all other settings the same (VTT 1.429, PLL 1.853, PCH 1.1), I can
reach 214 Bclk using the OC Tuner, but only up to 198 doing the same thing
via the BIOS. In each case, I'm testing via (for the moment) 10 minutes of Prime95.

CPU multi is just 12 atm as I'm only at the stage of finding the max Bclk. Vcore is
less than 1V (Auto). The usual stuff disabled (Vdroop, SpeedStep, CStates, etc.)

Ian.
