The ASUS/ASrock P55 and X58 Club & Discussion(Under construction) - Page 9

That's turbo going into effect. You have to disable speedstep in bios to lock it at 20, or any multiplier for that matter.

Also, it's annoying that you have to enable speedstep to get the 21 multiplier, than you have to disable it to leave it locked at 21. I wish you could just enter 21 in the spot and it'd work.

Yeah, I bought it at the right time. =P

I get 6.1. for my RAID 0. =(

I've been doing some backwards testing at the moment, since I've noticed I need to throw large amounts of voltage to get higher than 4ghz, and yet right now I was able to boot at lower voltages at 3.8ghz.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=805503

If anyone is interested, you can use my settings and set the modifier to 20 and it's mostly stable for a 4.ghz, though I keep failing because of temps. I had to set vcore higher than 1.4v though. This cooler sucks, and I've tried reseating too many times for me to give it ago again.

Hmm, anyone found a nice guide for the ASRock bios? I see something called "PCIE Max payload size" and it's at 128. i just changed it to 256.
A max payload of 256 sucks. This must be where the board skimps. lol

http://www.techarp.com/showFreeBOG.a...ng=0&bogno=387

It's good you set it at 256.

I am going to try a P6T7 WS in a couple days. Seems like only a handful of people have this board.

I hoping it may be kind of a diamond in the rough, and although it may sound ridiculous to use that metaphor (metaphor?) in reference to an Asus product, I think the combination of the high price, especially when basically any 1366 board nets you pretty much the same bclk(the exceptions being boards with hardmods and special BIOSs for more PCIE freq., and Classifieds, afaik), there is the Classified at the same price point, and it throttles turbo, so that would turn off a lot of benchers.

I would not "call myself a bencher", per se, but I probably am though anyway, considering all I did with my time on the Classified (when the rig was working) besides gaming, was stability testing, overclocking, and benching.

But, I can live with turbo throttling, I guess, because I think ASUS will come out with a BIOS update. I think it, because I want it to be true so badly.

My favorite thing about Asus and Asrock is probably Asrock's awesome official slogan:

"Motherboard, We Master It!"

Bitspower, another Taiwanese company that makes H20 cooling products, also has an awesome one:

"Further. Design. Unique."

Does the Asrock version also throttle on Turbo (A.K.A. 21x core multiplier)?

Is there any difference with the version that is "For Gamers" or whatever it is? I will get the link of the one I ordered.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131390

I need to determine whether it is the IMC on my 920 D0, or the E760 Classified, which is causing me to drop the primary memory channel, so I figured, why not try the P6T7 WS, and if it does the same thing, I will know that the cpu is responsible, before I do another RMA with Evga.

MSI is another Taiwanese company. A lot of really great technology has been coming out of Taiwan for a while, and the quality of their computer parts has skyrocketed more recently.

I heard in some reviews, they really shone and were far more brilliant than their predecessors.
I want to buy this mobo, but then I read another one saying it had RAM and POST issues.
I might be buying A-Data DDR3-1333 RAM 2gbx3.

Has anyone had RAM and Post issues with these ram?
I just want to know before I buy it
