P4 2.53 northwood OC' voltages

Alright, ive menaged to clock it bootable to about 3.11 Ghz with 1,725 voltage. But im currently running stable at 1,7 / 3.04. Theres no issue with the tempratures, it idles at 33C and about 46C load, yet, im hesitating going higher, theres no problem at 1.725, but going past 1.75V it gave me some "case intrusion" message.

So the question is how high dare i go with the Vcore voltages without damaging the chip? Or is it all about the tempratures, as my mobo supports vcore much higher then this.

Another issue is that CPU-Z gives me vcore jumping from 1.74-1.76, but everest / bios states its at 1.71-1.72, as its set to be. Unfortunately I Dont have the equip to verify, could this be one of the causes of being forced this high vcore, as ive seen people claim they go beyond 3ghz on 1.5V with similar cpu's.

Thanks for a very usefull board and helpfull atmosphere

Well the v-core your running at is rather high now..but if its stable all is good..but i wouldnt go any higher v-core wise as this will pretty much certainly damage your chip..you could only go to 1.8 v-core if you had phase change.

Ok did some further test on different setups today, increased Vcore to a 17.75 and ran it at 3.15, but noticed idle went up to 43C and it forced me to run ram @ 266 2.5-2-3-5 1:1, wich also ended up with worse performance compared to running it as it 3-2-3-5 4:5 @ 333.

What do you mean by "only go to 1.8v core if u had a phase change" ? I am rather familiar with computers but only recently gone into overclocking further then the default voltages .

Dont know how to overcome this now, i can menage the tempratures to acceptable levels, but system stability suffers and i dont see any performance gain at higher clocks. Any suggestions? Does anyone else have this cpu running successfully at higher FSB on air cooling, and what settings are you running then?

I know its is getting quite a bit out of date and suffers from the 533fsb but as my economy is rather tight at the moment im hoping to run it with somewhat decent performance til spring. So any help would be appriciated, im currently getting low 54.000-54.300 on the normal aquamark3 tests on 6600gt 128mb agp.
