then you decide to take it apart again to do a better job and ruin parts, most common thing i have done is break them damn intel push pins on most coolers, and have to buy a new cooler and reseat it all over again

How about going over your parts list a number of times then finally ordering because your sure you have everything. Parts arrive a few days later and you realize you didn't get a DVD drive to install windows with. So now the partially built rig sits there with a hole in the front of the case waiting for your drive to come in so you can finish the job.

Who doesn't have like 10 spare DVD drives lying around, though ?

The worst thing to do after building a computer is having to take it all apart again just to install an aftermarket heatsink.

Best thing to do after building a computer:

Sell it on craigslist to make a $200 profit and build an even nicer computer, then repeat.

I hate push pins.

And last time I took my PC apart, I had to get a new PSU. Every time I take this thing to pieces, something dies.

posting in an epic thread

my contribution: buying a new rig with a gigantic cooler, to find out the top of the heatpipes stop the side panel fitting.

solution: hammer.

..watching the computer loop in and out of boot because the heatsink isnt attached properly and the cpu keeps shutting off because of heat. Then getting angry and snapping a push pin off the stupid cooler.
