Hey, I'm currently deciding on a new cpu. I've decided on the 3700+ 939. But there's two. Should I get E4 or E6? E6 seems to have a lower voltage. Other than that I see no difference.

E6
E4

I have the E4 stepping and it seems to be working fine. Right now its running at 2.7Ghz and I haven't had any problems that *it* has caused so far....I've had a few mishaps that were my own fault (by that i mean stability issues cause its my first OC). But a lot of people have told me its a great processor.

Im not sure on exact AMD steppings for the Winchester but I'm sure it won't clock as high as a newer Venice I'm assuming the stock is 1.8GHz right? if that's the case you should be able to do 2.4GHz atleast and depending on you mobo/ram you could probably net 2.6GHz.

EDIT/// Looks like you have sufficient cooling and a nice motherboard but your RAM is DDR400 so you will probably have to either relax the timings, raise the voltage (vDimm) or set the RAM on a slower divider to get to any serious overclock.

EDIT//// LOL that post was back in January....my bad...
