DS Lite or DSI?

Thread Starter
I just got a free DS Lite with a few games. Only downside is that it's color is Coral Pink or Rose. I'm thinking about buying a Nintendo DS Shock Shell Cool Black. I've heard people don't like the DS Lite buttons compared to the DSI buttons. The Shock shell has better buttons (so I've heard) and it's color fits me better than what I have now.

I could do that or take the DS Lite I have now to a game store, trade it in for cash/store credit, and buy a DSI with the cash/store credit and some money out of my pocket.

My questions are...
1)Would you keep the DS Lite and replace the shell or get a DSI?
2)Here it says the DSI has a SD memory card slot. Can the DSI be moded to play roms off the SD cards?

Thanks in advance!

You are not allowed to talk about "ROMS" on OCN since they are Illegal.

And to answer your question, no I wouldn't replace my Nintendo DS Lite with a DSi, since there are only minor changes but has a big impact towards consumers.

Here comes another warn...

Let me rephrase the ROM thing. Can the DSI SD card thing be used for mods?

I would keep the DS Lite, and I would not replace the shell.
Replacing the shell can be kind of a pain if you don't have the right tools, and even if you do.

DS Lite all the way.

If you're not going to be playing any Gameboy Advance games, there's no over all reason not to go to the DSi. I have one, and I've had no reason to go back to my old DS Phat. The DSi does have better hardware and more features then the DS Lite, but if an online store, simple camera, and free web browser aren't your thing, then you can stick with the DS Lite and not be missing much.

So really, it's up to you.

DS Lite if you have GBA games, DSi if you don't.

Even then, I have GBA games, I just play them on my GBA. Not a big loss, the SP has a lit screen, and GBA games never used the DS hardware anyway.
